Former sportswriter Jeff MacKinnon became a realtor in 2016 after spending more than two decades tapping out stories for newspapers and magazines across Canada covering every sport imaginable.
Jeff hails from Dryden, Ontario and became a Calgarian in 2000. Along with playing hockey since the age of three, he took part in baseball and football growing up and reached the university level in his favourite sport, basketball. He has covered the NHL, CFL, many Canadian curling championships, the chuckwagon races and rodeo at Stampede; and World Cup speed skating, luge and skiing competitions. Among his many memorable experiences as a writer was the night he frantically scribbled notes for a deadline story while caught in the middle of an off-ice brawl between the Thunder Bay Senators and Muskegon Fury in the United Hockey League days.
Clients often comment on Jeff’s respect for deadlines, his attention to detail and his ability to tell it like it is.
Jeff's interest in real estate took off in 2009, when he and his wife Pamela bought two investment properties in Calgary – which they still manage. He is dad to two amazing daughters, and the whole family loves to travel whenever possible. He's constantly begging them to come out to the driveway and shoot hoops and sometimes they humour him and do so for a few minutes.
Jeff tries to get in a 45-minute walk each day, reads as much as time allows, plays the saxophone and also obsesses daily about the holes in his jazz collection. He owns golf clubs but they always have more dust on them than dirt unfortunately. If you want to talk about real estate or just want to vent about why your favourite team is horrible, he’s happy to chat!
